Was Great…

At the outset what made curio great was their ability to select the best and most interesting articles from the world’s top publications. The readers are pitch-perfect, and their selection of long-form content was astoundingly good. Since then, although we’ve seen many improvements, in particular to the app interface, Curio also seems to have lost sight of it’s most important qualities. The strongest indication of this is the new “Curio Thinkers” section. Curio now includes, alongside top articles from the Economist and the Financial Times, audio content from their own sub-par journalists. Curio’s Thinkers seem intent on producing masses of click-bait type articles. The increasing number of titles along the lines of “5 improbable ways you can get fitter smarter and more productive” seems prophetic of Curio’s tragic transformation into yet another lame self-help app. Instead of all this rubbish, Curio should try to get more top publications onboard (New Yorker, Sunday Times…) and connect better with other platforms for consuming audio content. Listening to articles is a nerdy, niche thing to do. If Curio wants to retain that niche it needs to focus on its core nerdy audience rather than try appeal to the larger mass of buzzfeed/tiktok consumers who will soon lose all interest.

Hello, thank you so much for the in-depth feedback, we are always looking at ways we can improve so greatly appreciate your comments. We are glad to hear you are enjoying the new app interface, however are sorry you feel we have lost our Curio-ness. Alongside our thinkers we do still try to offer a variety of stories from different publications and on different topics. We'd love to chat further with you and find out what publications you enjoy having on Curio or the topics you enjoy listening to, please can you drop us an email at listen@curio.io? Thank you again.

High quality audio journalism in one place

I absolutely love Curio! This app is a must-have for anyone who wants to stay informed about current events, but also wants a break from reading. I typically use Curio on commutes to work, walks, and whilst running. The human-narrated and curated audio content is top-notch, and having all of the best publications in one place is incredibly convenient. I particularly enjoy the short-form daily news analysis which provides me with a quick rundown of the day’s most important stories. But what really sets Curio apart is the longer-form content, which allows me to dive deeper into topics that interest me from many popular publications. The human touch in the analyses is incredibly refreshing, especially in a world with rapid advancements in AI, I can only see human generated content getting more valuable. The app has quickly become one of the favourites, and I can’t wait to see what improvements they make to the product.
